The accommodation consists of one double & one twin bedroom, lounge, kitchen/dining area and a bath/shower room. The double bedroom (above) is spacious and light with front and back facing windows. The cottage is well equipped with fridge, washing machine, microwave, digital TV in the lounge; a cot and highchair are available on request. There are storage heaters throughout in addition to a stove in the lounge. Electricity, coal, linen and towels are all included in the price. There is a telephone which only accepts incoming calls; there is a payphone nearby in the village.
The garden consists of a pretty flower border and a private grassy area – perfect for picnics with the kids or just a chance to relax and enjoy the fabulous sea view across to the small island of Helliar Holm and beyond to Mainland Orkney.
Helliar Holm is an uninhabited island off the southern coast of Shapinsay. It is home to a 42 foot tall lighthouse built in 1893 and now automated. The Holm is a tidal island connected to Shapinsay at low tides; you will often see seals there.
